Revamp the 2CV! Conserve its qualities but dress them in a finer robe and add more sophisticated equipment. This is the challenge taken up by Robert Opron and Jacques Charreton and which leads in autumn 1967 to the unveiling of the little Dyane with a more contemporary angular and affluent-looking profile than the 2CV.
Launched with a 425 cc engine, like its elder sister, in 1968 it is modified in response to demand for more power: 435 cc for the Dyane 4 and 602 cc for the Dyane 6. In 1970, it acquires a third side window and it remains popular even after the arrival of the Citroën Visa in 1978, pursuing its long career until 1983 without major changes. For a further four years the Acadiane, its light van variant, continues to carry the Dyane banner. The name of this quaint little vehicle is a reminder of its dual ancestry: 2CV AK and Dyane.
